Yervand Kochar
(1899-1977)

Kochar's work is very varied, for he worked equally well in the spheres of sculpture, painting and graphic art. In the square by the station in Yerevan stands his superb monument to David of Sasoun, hero of the Armenian literary epic. Kochar was born in Tiflis and studied in Moscow, and then spent 15 years living and working in Paris, from the early 1920s.
