Born Karnik (Garnik) Zouloumian on January 1st, 1907 in Syria. Carzou later created his name from the first syllables of his name and surname. Becoming a world traveler at an early age, Carzou was educated in Cairo Egypt before moving to Paris in 1924 at the age of 17 Over the course of his long career, which began with his first formal exhibition in 1939, Carzou received many honors throughout the world, including 3 Hallmark Prizes for painting, Japan's Education Prize, Brussells' Grand Prize of Europe, and the Grand Prize of the Ile de France. In 1976 Carzou became the first living artist to have his work appear on a French postage stamp.
1930- Graduated from the State school of archibitecture at the same time attending Grand Chaumiere. Eventually be won the 1 prize in drawing among Franch artists.
Since 1930- constant participant of the salon of Independents”, “Ani” association and “The Union of independent Armenian artists”.
Since 1939- more than 100 solo exhibiti8ons.
Since 1941- constant participant of Autumnal salon
Since 1945- constant participant of Droin-David gallery.
1954-Ile-de-France 1 prize.
1955- Grand pris(Tokyo)
1956- got the title The Knight of Art and Literature”
1954-WAS DECORATED WITH AN ORDER OF THE legion of Honour.
1958- got the title “The Knight of Art and Literature”
1950-1960 designed the sets and costumes for Cinedue Francaise, La Skala, Natinal theatre of Paris.
Since 1977- a member of France Fine Arts Academy.
1980- awarded with Martiros Sarian medal.
1984-* personal exhibition in Yerevan and Moscow.
200- died in Paris.
The works are keep in Modern Art Museum (Yerevan) and many private galleries and collections all over the world.
