In the Apocaplypse I have to represent the cycle of the human adventure” Jean CARZOU“Ville des hirondelles” “The city of swallows”. A city of light where Jean Giono, lived and wrote, Manosque is proud to haven been chosen by Jean CARZOU to present his monumental vision – a gigantic fresco which covers all the walls of the chapel of the congregation des Dumes de la Presentation de Notre Dame. At the entrance of the CARZO foundation four supersonic planes announce future catastrophes. Further on we see the Armenian Genocides Hitler’sand Stalin’s genocides, The massacres of the Franch revolution period of terror, the Napoleonic wares and ther wall depicts hope in the form of the Goddess of fertility. The last painting shows us a couple, in each other’s arms ready to embark for a world of serenity |
