Migirdic Givanian studied at the Academy of Art in Istanbul under the tutelage of the French painter Pierre Guillemet. In 1874, an encounter with Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky, whose work he had long admired, inspired Givanian to align his oeuvre with that of the great master of marine painting |
